Hot stone massage combines two things most people love: warmth and a slow, flowing massage. Smooth stones are heated and used by the therapist as an extension of their hands. They glide along the back, shoulders and legs, and some rest briefly on the body while other areas are massaged.
The heat does much of the work. Warm stones help muscles soften, so tight areas relax with less pressure than a deep tissue massage would need. It feels heavy, warm and calm, and it is one of the easiest massages to fall asleep in.
